HMCS, Clarence House, Newport

Project consisted of refurbishment of existing offices to multi-storey building with addition of new offices/court facilities above first floor on top of existing roof for the Her Majesty’s Court Services (HMCS).

Full structural evaluation/assessment of existing concrete frame building was carried out to determine and prove the capacity of the existing building to support the addition of a new floor without the need for strengthening works to existing structures.

The new structure consists of a lightweight steel frame connected to the existing building and suspended above the existing flat roof which utilises a lightweight screed on metal decking for the new floor construction.
