Term Contract, Gorseinon College, Swansea

Term Contract, Gorseinon College, Swansea

Under our Term Contract we have completed various projects as part of a framework agreement with Gorseinon College. The projects have consisted of a new classroom extension, theatre, motor pool building, refurbishment of cafeteria, extension of existing car park and new classroom accommodation built over an existing theatre, including works to comply with DDA legislation.

For the classrooms over the theatre project a detailed structural assessment of the existing buildings structure and foundations were carried out to determine their suitability to support additional floor loadings and a lightweight steelwork structural frame. Timber floors and roof were designed which enabled the additional classrooms area to be provided with no strengthening works to existing foundation.

The classroom extension carried out in 2009 involved the design of new two storey steel frame building with insitu floors linked to existing building and internal modifications to existing building. The diversion of existing foul and surface water drainage was needed due to location of new extensions within tight confines of the campus.
