V Shed, Quay Side Slab, Avonmouth Docks

New Dock Levellers, Internal Offices & Conversion to Warehouse at former Sony Production Plant, Pencoed Technology Park, Bridgend

This project required collation and structural appraisal of as-built records to assess the feasibility of converting 150,000 sq ft of the existing Sony production facility to a warehouse with racking and forklift loadings.

This assessment included a substantial undercroft storage area which had a grillage of steel beams and composite slab beneath the warehouse area.

The site works included forming a new service yard with dock levelers offset from the building façade to prevent underpinning works.

As part of our role we also designed and detailed an internal steel frame to provide 15,000 sq ft of office space within the existing building.
