Cantilupe Extension, Stonbow Unit, Hereford County Hospital

Cantilupe Extension, Stonbow Unit, Hereford County Hospital

Extension to existing mental health facility to provide secure facilities and close Observation Unit.

The extension itself was of load bearing masonry with precast concrete suspended floor slabs due to made ground and a light weight timber roof structure.

Concrete trench filled foundations were required due to the proximity to existing trees, drainage and live services within a confined courtyard area. The works included opening up into the existing hospital building which required forming structural openings in the existing loadbearing walls supporting a proprietary lattice roofing system.
