Project Details
Blakes Hotel is a commercial hotel development in Shoreditch requiring a complex structural solution to support a constrained urban site and substantial below-ground construction. The scheme comprised an 11-storey plus 4-storey hybrid frame structure, together with a 4-storey basement.
We provided full civil and structural engineering services for the project, including piled foundation design, basement engineering, and the development of the primary structural frame. The building adopted a hybrid structural solution comprising a reinforced concrete core with a surrounding structural steelwork frame, requiring careful coordination of load paths, stability, connection interfaces, and construction sequencing.
Due to the urban location, the project also required detailed consideration of party wall interactions and neighbouring structures. Our role supported the delivery of a buildable structural solution for a technically demanding commercial development.
