The Pencoed Industrial Unit project involved the delivery of a new warehouse and office facility, comprising approximately 44,000 sq ft of warehouse space and 2,000 sq ft of office accommodation. The scheme required coordinated civil and structural engineering input to support the building, external service areas, drainage strategy, and approval requirements.
We provided full civil engineering design for the development, including the design of a substantial external concrete service yard of approximately 5,000m2. The yard design needed to support operational vehicle movements, loading demands, durability requirements, and long-term performance.
Our role also included SAB submission support, helping to address sustainable drainage requirements and obtain the necessary approvals. From a structural perspective, we designed the building substructure and reviewed the steelwork frame design undertaken by the fabricator, ensuring compatibility between the frame, foundations, and civil engineering design.
