The Sauchiehall Street development in Glasgow is a purpose-built student accommodation scheme located in a prominent city-centre setting. The project requires a robust and efficient engineering solution to support high-density student accommodation on a constrained urban site.

We are providing full civil and structural engineering services for the scheme, including piled foundation design and the design and detailing of the reinforced concrete frame. The project requires careful consideration of party wall interactions, neighbouring structures, construction sequencing, and coordination with the architectural layout.

The scheme also involves the retention of the existing facade, which forms an important interface between the new development and the retained building frontage. While the facade retention scheme was designed by others, we reviewed and checked the design as part of our wider structural coordination role, helping to ensure compatibility with the proposed permanent works and overall construction strategy.

Our role supports the delivery of a buildable PBSA scheme where structural efficiency, repeatability, facade coordination, and careful integration with retained elements are critical to successful project delivery.
